Terah, thanks for agreeing to be here today. Most author spotlight interviews start off with the boring stuff, but I know what readers REALLY want to know.
If you could have any pet (real/fantasy/no-allergies/no worries about feeding it) what would it be?
A gryphon, no question.
Ooooh! Between the feathers and the being-able-to-carry-you, an excellent choice.
What do you write? And how did you get started?
I write coming-of-age adventure fantasy. I started while I was living abroad in East Africa – a good way to pass the time.
A great genre and a good reason.
What do you like to read?
My favorite books are anything high fantasy that reminds me of the Witcher and Shadow and Bones.
I’m a huge high fantasy fan, myself!
What do you drink when you write/edit?
I drink a lot of natural organic juices. Right now – my favorite is Martinelli.
That sounds tasty.
Do you snack when you write/edit? What are your favorites?
Yes, popcorn – lots of popcorn. White cheddar is the best.
I’m a white cheddar popcorn fan myself.
Name one commonly accepted piece of writing advice that doesn’t work for you
Stay in your lane.
Limiting yourself to one type of character, dream, or trilogy doesn’t work for me! I like to be expansive.
I’m right there with you.
Name one commonly accepted piece of writing advice they can pry out of your cold, dead hands
Keep at it.
Constantly practicing your craft.
So true! The only way to get better is to work at it.
Shameless Self-Promotion time!
Courtlight (#1-13)
Sworn to Raise

Seventeen-year-old Ciardis has grown up in poverty, a cleaner in a small vale on the outskirts of the empire. But beneath her empire’s seemingly idyllic surface lies a hidden secret. Whispers of an inept crown Prince are growing ever louder—intensified by the five year anniversary of the soulbond initiations.
Amidst scandalous whispers, Ciardis finds herself chosen to train for the Companions Guild. She leaves her home and sets off on a personal journey to become a Court Companion. A position she’d never thought possible for a lowly servant to obtain, she must prove that she has the skills to attract a Patron.
But she must master those skills quickly. If the legends are true, only Ciardis can harness the power to raise a Prince in an Imperial Court sworn to bring him down.
Crown Service (#1-5)
Blades of Magic
It is not a peaceful time in the Algardis Empire. War is raging between the mages and seventeen-year-old Sara Fairchild will be right in the middle of it.
She just doesn’t know it yet.

Sara is the daughter of a disgraced imperial commander, executed for desertion. Sara is also the best duelist and hand-to-hand combatant in Sandrin. She lives quietly with her family’s shame but when challenged about her family’s honor, her opponent inevitably loses. On the night she finds out her father’s true last actions, she takes the Mercenary Guilds’ vows to serve in the emperor’s army. Using her quick wits and fierce fighting skills, she earns a spot in the first division. There she discovers secrets the mages on both sides would prefer stay hidden. Dark enemies hunt her and soon it’s not just Sara questioning the motivation behind this war.
While fighting mages, blackmailing merchants, and discovering new friends, Sara comes across something she’s never had before – passion. The question is – can she fight for her empress against a mage who might unwittingly claim her heart?
Sara is hoping it doesn’t become the year she dies.
