Burnout is a BEAST

*tap, tap* Is this thing still on?

It’s been a couple months and I wanted to check in. Apparently, being a blogger, Youtuber, podcaster, actively querying author, and social media addict for over 7 years can burn someone out. Who knew?

You know me, I hate breaking a streak, but once it’s broken, I can make excuses all day long.

Where have I been? I’ve been doing the same thing I’ve been doing since December — binge reading romances and avoiding almost everything else. I’d hoped a break of a week, or a month would be enough and I’d be back at it, refreshed and ready to go. At this point though, I’ve got to admit it. Something’s gotta give.

Where does that leave me?

I’ve been contemplating this for weeks and stalling on taking the actual plunge but here we are.

Clearly, my day job needs to take priority, because I like having enough money to pay my bills. Next up is probably reading. It’s my coping technique and escapism. Third is going to be my writing.

When it comes to my blog, I think I’m gonna start doing reruns, matching up for the current Podcast run (because my Podcast is the audio from my Youtube, on about a 2 year delay), with update posts when I have them. If I find the energy, I’ll be starting back up the author spotlights, but until then, they’re sitting in a folder, waiting for me.

The best thing about writing is… if you have to take a break, it’ll be there waiting for you.

For all of my supporters and fellow writers out there, best of luck with your persistence game. I hope I get mine back, soon.

  1. This is a great entry to an important discussion for writers. We internalize SO much and are expected by our peers to calous over our feels. The emotional exhaustion, if not treat can easily become depression. Thanks for sharing, Sis.
