While at Balticon, I was introduced to a man who offered to beta read my novel. He only asked two questions– and I didn’t have an answer prepared for them. I did my best to answer them coherently (although not concisely).
It made me think.
It made me realize that I needed to emphasize different elements of my novel.

Good lesson. We should all be ready with one sentence answers to those questions as well as what’s your story about.
We should also learn to give those one sentence answers and then wait for a reponse instead of trying to explain further, which shows lack of confidence and indecision.
