I’m Not a Writer In December

I spend most of my year thinking, breathing, talking, planning things for my writing. Come December, though? All bets are off. I’m not a writer in December.

Even on years where NaNoWriMo hasn’t completely wrecked my executive function, December is full enough of it’s own stressors and events. I’ve got a pretty full calendar this month.

That doesn’t mean I won’t work on projects, but this is the one month a year I have no expectations of anything outside of this weekly post.

We all need breaks, and while I often set my goals based on what I can get done in a great month — not every month is great. If I keep pushing for my goals, I’ll just end up sliding further and further behind.

Sometimes, you just need to take a break.

Are you a writer?
Do you write when the mood takes you, or do you try to get your butt-in-seat regularly?

Do you schedule breaks into your schedule?
